What is the Knoxx SpecOps NRS Stock?
The SpecOps NRS (Non-Recoil Suppressing) is a well constructed shotgun stock offering users adjustable length of pull, a comfortable pistol grip and sturdy light-weight composite construction.
Does SpecOps NRS have the same recoil reduction capabilities as the SpecOps Stock?
The SpecOps NRS does not include the two integrated recoil-reduction devices found in the full-functioning SpecOps Stock. The SpecOps NRS is more comfortable to shoot than most stocks, but it is not specifically designed to reduce recoil like the SpecOps Stock.
I already have SpecOps NRS, can I upgrade to a full functioning, recoil reducing SpecOps Stock?
Yes, for the retail price difference between the SpecOps NRS and the SpecOps Stock, the NRS can be upgraded to include the Knoxx patented dual recoil reducing systems. Please contact Knoxx Customer Service at 877-465-6699 to discuss the upgrade process.
What is the length-of-pull (LOP) on the SpecOps NRS?
The SpecOps NRS is adjustable from a minimum of 11.25 inches to a maximum of 15.25 inches by pressing a lever and pulling or pushing the stock to the desired length. If the rubber butt pad is removed, the minimum is 11.25 inches with a maximum of 15.25 inches. The rubber pad can be removed with a Phillips screwdriver and the removal of two screws. The butt plate of the stock is highly textured to improve shooter control.
Can I use an oversized safety or extended safety with the SpecOps NRS?
Unlike the SpecOps Stock, oversized safeties can be used with SpecOps NRS. Recommended oversized safeties can be found in the accessory section of the Knoxx website.
Why is the SpecOps NRS suited for law enforcement and military applications?
The issue of length of pull (LOP) has long plagued military and law enforcement personnel. The military’s solution is the M4-style stock on the current issue M-16 and the SpecOps NRS brings that solution to the pump shotgun platform. Now a 5’4” 120 pound soldier or officer can use the same shotgun as their 6’4” 220 pound partner. Proper fit of the shotgun to the shooter is crucial in ensuring firearm control and accuracy.
Is the SpecOps NRS just for police and the military?
No, The SpecOps NRS is perfect for:
Recreational Shooters – The ability to properly fit the stock to each shooter makes the SpecOps NRS a budget smart choice for families and for target and competitive shooting.
Hunters – The same features that make the SpecOps NRS ideal for law enforcement apply to hunters of all types. With a properly fit shotgun hunters will enjoy better control of their shotgun and will find pre-season practice much more enjoyable, making them better shooters and resulting in more game for the freezer. Turkey hunters will love the shape and angle of the pistol grip that will make the hours of turkey calling and waiting much more comfortable.
Home Defense – Experts in home defense all agree that the most important aspect of keeping a shotgun for home defense is user familiarity (that means practice.) With the SpecOps NRS, the shotgun is one size fits all. A SpecOps NRS equipped shotgun can be stored in the collapsed position for easy placement and extended to the correct length, even in the dark.
Doesn’t this make my shotgun an assault weapon?
No. Pump shotguns are not regulated as “assault weapons”, they are only regulated by federal and state regulations with regards to minimum barrel length, and overall length. The SpecOps NRS, even at its shortest length, still complies with federal and state laws.
What shotguns will it fit?
The SpecOps NRS is available for Remington® 12 and 20 gauge 870 Series pump shotguns along with the 7615, 7400, 7500, 7600, 740, 750 and 760 series rifles; an all 12 and 20 gauge Mossberg® 500, 590, 835 variants, and Maverick 88 models. The SpecOps NRS is not compatible with semi-automatic shotguns.
Is there a way to attach a sling?
Yes. The SpecOps NRS stock comes with a sling swivel stud installed at the toe of the butt. In addition, there are two alternate mounting locations along with a slot through the stock to install a web sling. All sling mounting methods gives the shooter full utility with the stock mounted.
What accessories are available for the SpecOps NRS?
For cheek height adjustment and extra ammo storage, check out the Knoxx Power Pak. In addition, please check the recommended accessories found on the SpecOps NRS Product Information Page.
Is it strong and durable?
The SpecOps NRS is made from high strength fiberglass-reinforced polymers for service in the most extreme environments. While ideal for civilian use, it has been designed and built for military and law enforcement professionals in the most demanding situations.
Is it legal? Yes. It is legal to install the SpecOps NRS on any pump shotgun in all 50 states.
Can I replace the butt stock portion of the stock?
The SpecOps NRS butt stock is not compatible with other M4-style stocks. The increased recoil energy generated by a shotgun requires the use of a heavier, sturdier tube than is found in standard M4-style stocks.
Is it difficult to install and use?
Once your factory stock is removed, the SpecOps NRS installs by tightening one pre-installed bolt. Using the stock is intuitive and takes only seconds to figure out. Just squeeze the lever and set it to the LOP that works for you. There are five different settings available.
